How secure is Paystack?
Paystack is a PCI-certified, auditor certified, PCI Service Provider Level 1 – the highest certification level. All connections to Paystack services are forced to happen over HTTPS using TLS 1.2 (SSL). Paystack uses HSTS to ensure browsers interact with Paystack only over HTTPS.
Card Information
Card details are encrypted using AES-256 GCM while the decryption keys are stored on a separate machine. As such, cards are not stored as plain numbers but securely hidden even from Paystack personnel and systems. The only actions Paystack systems can take is to request that card details be sent to a service provider.
Fraud Prevention
Paystack has developed an internal decision support system that uses intelligent rules to determine the risk factor of a transaction or customer and blocking payment from being made if it does not pass the necessary checks. This decision is based on a combination of multiple factors such as geolocation, IP addresses, purchase, and behavior history, and so on.
Pay with Mobile Money
The Pay via Mobile Money channel allows Ghanaian customers to pay by entering their phone number enabled for mobile money.
When the customer clicks pay, they will receive a prompt on the mobile device attached to their number asking them to confirm the payment by inputting a PIN.
How do I pay with Mobile Money?
- When on our checkout form, click the Mobile Money option
- Input your mobile money number
- Choose your provider
- Click on Confirm
Important to Note
For Vodafone customers, after you confirm your mobile money number and provider, you will have to dial *110# on your mobile phone, select option 4: Make Payments and select option 4: Generate Voucher and enter your pin to complete the request. You will receive a text message containing your voucher code after which you will come back to the checkout form to click on ‘I have received my voucher code.’ Input the voucher code to authorise the payment and complete the transaction.

CREDIT CARD VERIFICATION NUMBER
To maintain your own security and prevent fraud, you will be asked to enter your Card Verification Number (CVV) when paying with credit card. You can find the 3 digit number on the back of your credit card. It generally appears to the right of your credit card number
VERIFIED BY VISA PROCESSING
Verified by Visa is free to Visa cardholders and was developed to help prevent unauthorized use of Visa cards online.
Verified by Visa protects Visa cards with personal passwords, giving cardholders reassurance that only they can use their Visa cards online.
Once your card is activated, your card number will be recognized whenever it’s used at participating online stores. A Verified by Visa window will automatically appear, and your Visa card issuer will ask for your password. You’ll enter your password to verify your identity and complete your purchase. At stores that aren’t participating in Verified by Visa yet, your Visa card will continue to work as usual.
PAYMENT PROCESSING
If you place your order with a credit card, the payment will be deducted from your bank account when your order and data have been verified and your ordered products leave our store for electronic and or physical delivery, where applicable.
If you place your order using Paypal, Real Time Banking, iDeal or a debit card, the payment will be deducted from your account when we confirm your order.
If you place your order with Klarna the payment will be deducted from your bank account once you have paid the invoice.
Please note that your billing address must be entered exactly as it appears on your bank statement.
